Only Four Horses Left!

Due to ecnomic factors, we are severly reducing our breeding opperation. If I sell both studs we will quit altogther. So we are offering most of our horses for sale, even those we would rather keep. We have never put horses "on sale" before but must get our numbers down. Be sure to check out the mares and stallion pages for more sale prices.

Welcome to Phantom Creek Ranch, breeders of foundation bred fox trotting horses. Our goal is to produce quality horses, suited for general pleasure riding, mountain riding and as good family mounts. We are specifically looking to raise horses that are hardy, have a naturally smooth fox trot, a quiet disposition and good conformation. We have owned Fox Trotters for over 20 years, during that time we have ridden several different styles, sizes and shapes of horses. Using this experience, we have begun a breeding program we believe will produce just those kind of horses. We have been lucky enough to find a few mares with Golden Governor, Zane Grey and other old time bloodlines as well as smooth true fox trots. We have decided to specialize in preserving these older style horses and bloodlines with smooth fox trots. We feel these horses make the best and most versatile pleasure horses. After all, that is what they were originally bred for.

Cindy's Royal Sun

I know I will regret selling him as he is a great horse and good producer but we don't need a stallion any more.  He has that natural gold shine, clean or dirty!  He is about 14.2 and of medium build, truly foundation bred to old fox trot lines.  He has a nice flat walk, fox trot and single foot (at least that is what I was told it is).  He also has a natural canter/lope. He is very athletic and has been trail ridden a lot.   We've taken  him camping several times, he highlines great, rides quiet in the trailer w/ other horses.  Easy to handle for vet, farrier and to breed.  I often have to handle him alone and he never gives me any trouble.  He also pasture breeds and is good with mares with foals. He has a pregnant companion mare most of the year and does great with her and her babies.  If we had time to ride, I would geld him and keep him.  If you are looking to breed, I have a bred bay mare I will sell as a package deal.

Jigsaw's Grand Finale

MFTHBA 90-35316 19 yrs old 15H $1200

Best fox trot ever!  Well trained & sound as 10 yr old,

Jiggs carried me on many, many mountain trails and taught me a lot about riding some years ago. The last 8 years he has shown and trail ridden. This gelding has one of the BEST, SOFT, NATURAL fox trots I have ever ridden. He has a nice flat walk and canter too! Has done Clinton Anderson work with his last owner, not much he can't do: side pass, turns on forehand and haunches, backs, ridden over stuff or lunged or what have you. He is too well trained and light for many novices, he assumes their wiggling or unsteady hands mean he should be doing something.  Really nice custom saddle available.

Playboy's Blaze of Glory

I was fortunate a year ago to pick up a stud colt of outstanding breeding, Playboy's Blaze of Glory.  The idea was to cross him on Sunny's fillies.  He is by Southern Playboy out of an unknown but outstanding mare.  She has never done anything but trail ride.  The first time I saw her she brought tears to my eyes.  She has more natural rhythm and shake than most show horses and all the brains and surefootedness to handle the Ozark back county.  Blaze received the best of both parents including his dad's great color and his dam's style.  Smart and willing to learn, easy to handle, loves people. My daughter was playing around with him one day and went from never having seen a saddle blanket to saddled and leading quietly in about an hour.  Need I say more about his temperament.  For sale as a stallion only.   His is socialized with other horses.

MFTHBA 07-91060 coming 2yr should mature around 15 h $4000

Phantom Creek's Sprite

Reg pending, born May 16, 2009 $500

Sprite was the smallest foal I have ever seen born here.  She's since made up for it.  We call her Sprite because she has this playful and curious attitude.  And one of the cutest little faces!  Her mother, Miss Scarlet, is one of those mares you don't usually find outside MO.  She is a trail machine, smooth but true fox trot, willing and  gorgeous!  I expect no less from Sprite.
