F. Chance's Black Cinder

We brought Cindy home in November of 2000 in foal to Chickory Royal Heritage. She had a very, very nice palomino stud colt, Sunny. Cindy is a proven broodmare with several nice foals to her credit, including a stud standing at Lee Yates'. She is done having foals so we have focused on riding her. If she were a decade younger I would have to sell the rest, they would never get ridden!

Under "bombproof" in the dictionary is her picture! We brought her home in an open stock type trailer with a light blanket. Well first it rained, that turned to snow then a blizzard! The blanket was soaked and inadequate. It was late and no tack shops to be found. So we stopped at Walmart, bought a quilt and a roll of duck tape. We put the quilt on her and started wrapping duck tape around her. She looked back to see what we were doing but never moved! Since we have found her to be unflappable in any situation.

She will let anyone ride her and gaits like non other. We have used her many times for folks first ride on a fox trotter. We put the wife on one of my husbands business friends on her and took a short ride in the mountains. I think we have been doing this too long as we don't see trails with a novice's eye any more. But Cindy saved the day. Every time her rider became nervous Cindy just slowed down and placed her feet oh so carefully, never a turned hoof or stumble! Our guest left feeling proud to have ridden the high country! Pretty good for an old mare not ridden for at least a decade.

Cindy carries the cream gene enabling her to produce palomino or buckskin colts. She also has plenty of reach and a true fox trot.

Cindy is now retired from breeding or riding. She is enjoying life on the ranch.
